A mix of originals and standards recorded one cold January day in 2007. UK based trumpet and tenor partners Steve Fishwick and Osian Roberts team up with some of NYC's finest musicians including none other than the legendary Cedar Walton on piano and the great bassist Peter Washington. The rhythm section is rounded out by drummer (Steve's twin brother and at the time of recording and NYC resident) Matt Fishwick.
It's a hard swinging record with a variety of moods, from the grooving blues for openers- 'Uptown Shuffle', a beautiful rendition of Quincy Jones' ballad 'Quintessence', some 60's influenced numbers such as 'Moblius' (Osian's tribute to Hank Mobley) and a resurrection of Cedar's 'Head and Shoulders' from his debut album. Latin ('New Bossa') and an interesting fast tempo arrangement of the standard 'I'll Never Be The Same'. Beautifully recorded by Jim Czak at Nola's Penthouse Studios in NYC. Pure Hard Bop of the standard rarely heard these days. Not to be missed if you are a fan of this genre!

Great record!

This CD is a must for all hardbop fans! Steve and Osian are world class cats for sure and they mesh up great with Cedar and Peter Washington. Matt Fishwick works perfectly with Cedar and PWash to create a great cushion for Osian and Steve that is missing in a lot of todays jazz. These guys continue to impress with their originals too!
