New Mexico native Shad Burns is making his presence known in Music City with a new album.
Working with producers Grant Boatwright and Mike Solle, Burns is finally getting a chance to do country music his way.
Born in Las Cruces and raised in Reserve, NM, Shad Wesley Burns, like many country music greats, grew up in a musical family.
At the age of 5 his father started teaching him the guitar and by 11 he was in a band with his brother, playing on weekends in nightclubs and at local dances.
After high school Shad learned welding but kept his hand in the music business, playing in various bands until 1988, when he decided to give music his full attention.
Shad's journey to Nashville began when he connected with the Johnny Rodriguez show.
He volunteered his trio to be the opening act at the Hat Creek Saloon in Deming, NM.
Rodriguez was so impressed with Shad that he immediately hired the trio to tour with him as the opening act and back-up band.
Being on the road with Rodriguez gave Shad a crash course in touring and performing, while also giving him the opportunity to develop his own style of music, and a chance to introduce audiences to his songs.
During these years Shad also did concerts with Hank Williams Jr., Steve Wariner, Alabama, and Ricky Van Shelton.
As Shad gained recognition during this busy touring schedule, Rodriguez, (who began his career with Tom T. Halls Band), came to Shad and said, "I'm going to give you the same advice Tom T. gave me-it's time for you to step forward and take your place in your own spotlight." By this time, Shad had made a lasting impression on Rick Durrett, Rodriguez' music director.
During the following year, Durrett started his own production company and took Shad into the studio to record a demo of his own songs.
In 1996 after the tragic loss of his 6 year old son Brandon, Burns stepped away from the music business.
Now in 2001 Burns has re-emerged with a long awaited album titled "Blame It On The Night".
The album consists of 12 songs that take you on a musical journey from the most traditional country music to the more modern country rock.
Working with producers Grant Boatwright and Mike Solle, Burns has succeeded in recording an album that is atracting all age groups.

Blame it On the Night is a fresh new country sound.
author: T. Boyer
"Blame It On the Night" is sure to be a chart topper!!!! I really like the music on this CD. I have heard all of Shad's music and this is some of his best. The instrumental is very unique as well as his voice. The combination of the two come together for a rich country sound.
