SHAKA'S BIO

Shaka was born in Brooklyn, New York where he lived for 15 years with two Jamaican parents two brothers and a sister. In '87 everybody except his older brother moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where his career as an artist began. His father being Jamaican and into music seriously, Shaka was heavily influenced by all types of music such as Reggae, Dancehall, Jazz, Classical, Rap, and Funk/R&B. His older brother was also a DJ and a lyricist-all this combined sparked Shaka's aspirations to be an emcee/artist.

Upon moving to Kenner (Greater New Orleans), Louisiana, he began to get serious as a writer and lyricist. After rapping through high school for friends and family he hooked up with a local DJ/producer R-Self and O.U.T.L.A.W. crew and did his first recordings. O.U.T.L.A.W. eventually put a cd out 'Hustlerz For Hire', which featured Shaka and was sold locally. He continued to write and perform locally, and along with a couple of friends (Pat and Rob), formed a hip-hop based organization called The S.O.C.I.E.T.Y. They later teamed up with DJ BLESS (an emcee, producer, and DJ) and local emcees LS, Jserious, and Saga. The S.O.C.I.E.T.Y. performed in and out of state and did pre-production recording in an apartment studio where they constantly promoted themselves. The music focused on the realities of life, creativity, and lyricism. Although the SOCIETY still exists, several members moved out of state to make moves and formed ESSOILL productions, which Shaka is still linked with. He later hooked up with another producer-Black from J.I.G.A.B.O.O. productions. JIGABOO dropped a cd called 'Unconscious Consequences' which also featured SHAKA and was sold and promoted locally.

Shaka continued to pursue his career as an artist, however he could, doing cameos on mix tapes, rhyming at parties, etc. Walking the road to becoming his dream, he hooked up with a long time friend-Ross'The Headman' Baudy. The two eventually formed REBEL BIZNEZ MUZSIC in an effort to organize and progress towards publishing Shaka's long time coming solo project titled 'REBEL BIZNEZ'. The cats at Rebel Biz are currently concentrating their efforts on promoting and marketing Shaka's current project the 'Babylon System EP'. Rebel Biz is also hard at work on the first in a series of mix tapes entitled 'Stick em Up!!!' and Shaka's next EP--a collaboration with long-time comrade BLESS from N.Y. based ESSOILL Productions. Both projects are due to drop bombs fa the '06. STAY TUNED REBEL BIZNEZ MUZSIC AIN'T BUDGING!!!

This ep brings a freshness to the current industry. This is not the standard of cars, jewelry and women. This artist has a real concept of what our black community needs to here in these times. Every grown black person needs to here this. I did not purchase the cd from cdbaby, I recieved it as a gift from a friend. I will purchase the ep in support of this artist. KEEP IT UP SHAKA! I look forward to hearing more from Rebel Biznez Muzsic.
