Album Notes

Received CD of the Year by a Band at the 2005 DeLand Original Music Festival!!!!
Shak is an aggregate of several musical influences. Some people hear Steely Dan (chord progressions) some hear James Brown (the rhythm section). We all have eclectic tastes in music: Miles, Fela, Funkadelic, Zorn, MMW, Geggy Tah, Dylan, Sam Rivers (Orlando's own), and Squarepusher to name a few. You can hear fragments of our influences in our playing without spoiling the originality. What sets us apart from many bands is the variety of sounds and styles coming from the same group of people. We have a salt and sugar effect. We have a dirty, nasti rhythm section on the bottom and an ethereal, melodic sense on top. The more you listen, the more you hear.

I'm an old fan of Kris Gruda going back to the days when he was with Skezag and Pitch Blue Jam. Ever since I moved to Colorado I've followed Florganism and Shak Nasti. I own both of Florganism's Cd's and I just got Shak Nasti's CD's. My hope is that you guys release a live album to capture some of the experiemental improvisation that you guys do during your shows. You should also consider coming up to Denver to do some shows! Thanks for the great music!
