Album Notes

Folk-noir at it's weirdest & darkest.

More stories from Shandytown. Robberies, last rites, ghosts, freaks, talking dogs, serial killers and lonely old men. More entertainment than you can shake a stick at.

Careful with that stick.

Ninety-five percent acoustic music here: guitar, mandolin and vocals with "character" combine to weave some odd tales indeed. In "The Threads Of Jack Dupree," a rampant Vermont killer's victims get their revenge, one button at a time.

HELLBOUND won the 2002 Just Plain Folks Traditional Folk Album of the Year award, and the songs "When I'm Gone" and "Slick As Sin" were both nominated for Traditional Folk Song of the Year. We'd hate to think you were missing out on something REALLY cool, so maybe you should check it out. You deserve it.

REVIEWS

Lawson writes, plays and sings some very original originals
author: Ralph Hohman, The Meriden Record-Journal

A shifty collection of story songs of marginal people and underdogs, past and present. Lawson's up-all-night voice, guitar and mandolin bring it home nicely.

Hellbound reaffirms Shandy's stature as a top-notch songwriter!

Shandy truly knows how to tell a story in song with a tinge of darkness always lurking. His metaphors, imagery, and lyrical prowess are among some of the best I've heard. Named Traditional Folk Album of the Year by Just Plain Folks in 2002 and rightly so! Pick this one up!

Bearded lady Rocks. The stories are great .
author: Patsy O'Brien - Cdbaby Artist

Shandy's voice is unique, like liquid sand, and he uses it to tell a mean story - dark, funny and true. Bearded Lady drives along under it's own steam and is the outsiders love song of the decade.
