SHANE ALEXANDER
After leaving a small Pennsylvania town more than a decade ago, singer/songwriter/guitarist Shane Alexander has been living as a Los Angeles artist, striving to move audiences with his music.
Possessing a smooth, expressive voice, Alexander has been compared to as disparate artists as Jeff Buckley, Ron Sexsmith, and Art Garfunkel. As a guitarist, his strength has always been soulful improvisation. During the early years in L.A., Shane played some of the biggest rooms in Southern California as part of an instrumental band led by Jim Michaelson, a virtuoso keyboardist and composer.
In 1994, after one local club show, Alexander was approached by legendary producer Richard Podolor (Alice Cooper, Steppenwolf, Iron Butterfly, Three Dog Night) and asked to lend his emotive guitar playing to completed recordings. While working with Podolor, he learned invaluable lessons about songwriting and arranging. Shane soon joined the band Young Art and made two records with them - one with Podolor and one with Ritchie Zito (Cheap Trick, Joe Cocker, Berlin). As he began writing songs of his own, it became evident that he should be singing them as well.
In 1996, Shane began practicing Nichiren Buddhism, which remains a constant source of balance and musical inspiration. Serving as both lead guitarist and frontman, Shane started Damone with longtime friends from Pennsylvania later the same year. As their loyal following steadily grew, the band independently released one record and a 4 song EP. The highly acclaimed rock group was featured in an interview and fashion layout for Los Angeles Times magazine and The Damone song "She Likes the Ocean" was repeatedly used on the extreme sports show Blue Torch, exposing the band to new fans all over the world.
In early 2003, Damone disbanded and Shane began a busy schedule of writing and performing on both coasts, either solo or with a revolving band of bass, drums, mandolin, piano, accordion and lap steel. Gifted with a strong
sense of melody, Shane writes songs ranging from dark and stirring to subtle and romantic. A self-produced EP was recorded last fall.
Shane Alexander will be touring extensively in 2004 in an effort to bring his music to a much wider audience. A full length release is scheduled for late spring.

Great songs. If melody and lyric are what you're into, this one's for you. The highlite for me is "Last Day on Earth". Like many of the others, this haunting tune will grab you, and leave you with it's melody for day's to come. I know.
