ShAnnie is a duo formed in 2005 consisting of Shan Kowert and Annie Acton. With their rich engaging vocal harmony of original songs, complimented by Shan’s 12 string acoustic guitar, they are winning new fans wherever they perform.
Shan and Annie come from very different backgrounds. Annie was a “punk rock girl”, with a great affection to bands like the Sex Pistols and the Ramones. Her deepest love, however; was for Patsy Cline. Shan was influenced by the sounds of Chicago, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and Gordon Lightfoot, to name a few. Although, he played saxophone and the piano, the 12 string stole his heart.
It was a chance meeting that brought these two together. Little did they know that they would share a common interest in songwriting. They approach each song with the passion and lyrical beauty it deserves.
Every song is different from the next… from the banter; back & forth of “Fickle” to the “Cold Comfort” murder ballad.
Shannie stands out with a distinctive sound worth exploring.
