Shanti Project Collection 3

A cohesive collection of10 new and rare tracks from The Black Heart Procession, Sigur Ros, Arab Strap, Califone and Kinski. This is a potent blend of music from 5 essential bands. The album plays out as if they the songs were meant to be played side by side in an aural attempt to take over the world.

A portion of the proceeds go to Shanti Project of San Francisco. Shanti provides education, practical assistance, and emotional support to people in need. They have been at the forefront of a growing national movement to enhance the quality of life for persons living with life-threatening or chronic illnesses by providing volunteer-based emotional and practical support. Shanti is a Sanskrit word meaning inner peace or tranquility. www.shanti.org.

Dylan Magierek of Badman compiled and oversaw the creation of the album. "I wanted to take songs from five powerful bands and have them flow as if created by one artist." The compilation took over 4 years to create. "I started with the idea of working with a few like minded groups and let it build from there. Sigur Ros was one of the first to supply songs through their label (Fat Cat). Pall Jenkins (The Black Heart Procession) soon said he was interested, and it developed from there. It isn't easy getting tracks from artists this good, and the months turned into years- but I think the result was worth the wait."

Several of the tracks on this album were recorded specifically for this project.

Previous Shanti Project Collection CDs have been called "an essential and immaculate listen" and have received 4 out of 5 stars in several major publications. Shanti Project Collection 1 featured new and rare tracks from Red House Painters, Low, Idaho, Misc and Hayden. Shanti Project Collection 2 was an all female event with new and rare ones from Kristen Hersh, Rebecca Gates, Edith Frost, Mimi Parker, Melissa Auf der Maur, Julie Doiron and Paula Frazer.
