Album Notes

These four guys and a girl play an infectious breed of New York City garage pop that will keep you bouncing in your seat. Their music is reminiscent of the CBGB's scene of the 70's, complete with fierce hooks and razor blade guitars, but with influences ranging from The Cure to Franz Ferdinand, The Shapes create a sound all their own. The Shapes debut self-titled record has been spun by over 150 college radio stations to date and has charted on 16 of them.

The record was recorded and mixed at Threshold Studios in New York City and mastered at Avatar Studios by Fred Kevorkian (White Stripes, Ryan Adams, Iggy Pop).

This CD is pretty new, as for the genre. It plays perfectly, the CD brochure was nice, but lacked lyrics to sing along with, and band pictures. Other than that, it was good. As for the mailing, nothing seemed damaged, so it went swell.

The Shapes hit all my right buttons - razor sharp guitars and punchy melodies. Reminds me of Early Church and they are just as exciting !!! Brilliant...buy this!

The Shapes are the best new band I've come across in my years of hanging out at crappy bars with good music. To know them is to love them. They rock live and thankfully their energy and dynamic transfer well to this recording. Please listen to The Shapes, you won't regret it! This CD is the one that never gets cycled out of the CD tray.
