Album Notes

"Trees" tells the story of the trees going out to elect a leader over themselves. They ask the Olive tree but he is too concerned with the spiritual things. They ask the Fig tree, but he is too concerned with the physical things. They ask the Vine, but he is too concerned with the things of the soul. They finally ask the Bramble who is not a tree and he accepts on condition. They must put their total trust in him, and if not, a fire will consume them all.
I read this story in Judges 9 from the Bible and it moved me. I wrote the entire album over a period of a few weeks and it truly takes you to another place in time. I wrote an original hymn, there are several different languages and musical styles being represented on here, and you can truly feel the Spirit of God in the music. My first album "Offering" was vocally driven, while "Trees", featuring some of Chicago's best musicians and singers, is more instrumentally driven.
This is a prelude to something bigger that will be revealed in time. I pray that Trees will meet you where you're at, and take you to where you need to be.
