Sharlene wrote, arranged, and produced the CD around 1999-2000 at The Masterlab of Dallas in Texas. A talented multi-instrumentalist, Sharlene plays the acoustic guitar, sings lead and backup vocals, and plays the flute. The album was engineered by Troy Powers, who was guitarist and road manager at the time for Vince Vance and the Valiants.
Sharlene features a number of excellent musicians from the Dallas area, including Alan McDaniel, Brian Grenvall, and Troy Powers on guitar; Larry Daniel and Gerard Bendiks on drums, Buddy Mohammed and Jim Pena on bass, Lannie Guest on fiddle, Oliver Mowat on keyboards, and Dennis Leonard on backup vocals on "When the Darkness Falls." Oliver Mowat provided assistance on all of the arrangements. Shelly Carrol plays sax on the title track as well as on "Leaving You Now" and "The One Whose Come B4 Me." Bill Eden provides his soulful horn to the mix on "Watchful Eye".
Sharlene's influences include Nora Jones, Madeleine Peyroux, Bonnie Raitt, Joni Mitchell, Ricki Lee Jones, Maria Muldaur, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, and many other singer songwriters and artists, including Heart and Jethro Tull.
