Album Notes

School & Church Art Theatre Productions, created by Sharon Luanne Hughes, aims at creating music, plays, and rhyming raps to help in the learning of things taught in the classroom.

Teaching art in Nashville, TN, since 1998, Sharon started setting her art appreciation lessons to music. She had already written and recorded a few gospel albums in Pennsylvania and Tennessee. She decided to use that music and put new words to it to help her students learn important things about art and artists. It really helped her children remember the facts, and they really enjoyed singing and doing the raps!

Sharon went back into the studio with her original tracks and recorded them as art educational songs. Sharon is also considering expanding the subjects and themes of her songs to include History, Science, Health, Music, values, and rules.

* In addition to the Educational Products, Sharon's original Christian CD's are also available. She continues writing songs about her joys and sorrows, triumphs and tragedies and everyday experiences of being a mother, a teacher and a wife.

"Rappin' Clappin' Singin' 'bout Art" with Mrs. Hues. Vol. I :

This is the first volume in the series which has up-beat, fun to sing songs, about art and artists. The songs and raps include subjects such as colors, shapes, elements of art, principles of design, Vincent van Gogh, Michelangelo and more. Raps are used to introduce each song. I hope you will enjoy and get a lot of use out of "Rappin' Clappin' Singin' 'bout Art" volume I. I use it just about everyday in my art classroom. I will use it as a warm up to introduce colors, shapes, or as a review at the end of a class. Sometimes I will base a whole Art history lesson around a song. Bring out paintings from Vincent van Gogh as you are singing a song about him.
However you chose to use "Rappin' Clappin' Singin' 'bout Art" vol. I in your classroom, I believe it will benefit your students. I have always found if you sing about something, it becomes part of you. It will be hard to forget information when it is in a catchy, fun to sing song! This CD comes with a Lyric Booklet/Teachers' Guide.
