"West creates quiet, thoughtful instrumentals with synthesizer textures and the occasional electronic beat. The opening cut, "Mystical Forest," bubbles and shimmers like a prime era Tangerine Dream track. This is calming music that, while tranquil, is anything but meditative thanks to a variety of tempo changes and invigorating melodies."

Dances in the Mist is a captivating journey of richly textured, beautifully melodic compositions by Sharon West. This debut album of all original instrumentals is a mixture of New Age, Jazz, Contemporary Classical and Electronica songs designed to relax, inspire and rejuvenate listeners.
Quote from a recent article (7/15/04) on Sharon West and her music in the Naperville Sun: "West's upbeat instrumental music, which she describes as "revved-up New Age" with pop, symphonic, jazz and electronic elements, is meant to soothe yet intrigue, to comfort while coaxing listeners to take on life's big questions: Why are we here? What purpose have we?
Those very questions prompted West to establish Dusty Dreams Productions, her independent record label, as an outlet for her music. The name was inspired by West's realization that dreams get dusty, but they don't die."

Sharon writes about the CD:
"When I started composing Dances in the Mist, I set out to provide an overall experience to the listener of an inspirational, reflective and relaxing journey. The concept I used to compose and sequence the songs was of a dream-like journey of my soul traveling on a horse into a magical and mystical forest for a couple days and nights. The horse stops at various parts of the forest so that I can see and experience each of the Dances in a meaningful flow of rest, fun and learning. Horses in mythology and folklore are frequently associated with sacred journeys to and from an Otherworld, so the adventure is enlightening, peaceful and restorative before going back into the regular world. I hope this album provides that kind of journey for you over and over again."

A refuge of upbeat relaxation
author: Jennifer Maloney
With a newborn and a pre-schooler at home, "Dances in the Mist" provides a refuge of upbeat relaxation in a the midst of a chaotic environment. This sounds like an award-winning score to an epic film that puts you in a different time and place if only for a couple of hours. Thanks for the bringing me along for the journey.

A very pleasant and interesting journey
author: Dave W
The CD is very nicely arranged and produced. The CD art is nice and fits the style and theme of the music very well. The production values on the CD are very good and the music interesting. I view each of these songs as surreal moments captured in an art gallery of my mind. My favorite song right now is “Memories and Dreams”, a beautiful song that I would expect to hear in a reflective scene of lost love in a major motion picture.
Very promising work for a first CD, can’t wait to hear what comes next!
