¦ OVERVIEW / BAND BACKGROUND:
Coming from Toronto, Canada, Shatterpoint is a
four-piece band at the cutting edge of today’s resurrection of metal. Their debut EP “Consequences ” (2004) earned them a voice in the world of metal and as 2007 begins, Shatterpoint stands to take over that world with their brand new release “Dead Precedence”.
In early 2001 Shatterpoint was formed by four life-long buddies who wanted nothing more than to “kick as much ass as possible”; and today that objective has not changed. Lead singer/ rhythm guitarist Shane Drake and lead guitarist Greg Wright are largely responsible for the sound of the band, creating the crushing grooves and killer riffs that form the backbone of Shatterpoint’s music. Bassist Chris Zeeman, the wild animal of the band, pounds out the crushing bass tones as drummer Steve Mitchell holds it all together with his precision, machine-like drumming. Together the four members have gelled into a solid machine, dead set on cranking out some of the heaviest and most relevant music of today.
Shatterpoint’s music is angry and aggressive, while showing a strong appreciation for musicianship and song writing. The band manages to create its unique sound by incorporating wide varieties of musical influences into their complex compositions (ranging from bands like Slayer and Pantera, to Machine Head and The Haunted). Lyrically Shatterpoint songs are representations of how they see the world around them. The songs encompass various themes, some ambiguous, others more to the point; though one thing you can be sure of is their unyielding, uninhibited attitude which makes them a force to be reckoned with in today’s metal scene.
Having already toured and conquered the Ontario, Canada metal scene, Shatterpoint is poised to take on North America and the rest of the World with their new release.
"Dead Precedence" is a 15 song monster, relentless from start to finish, with enough insanity to satisfy the needs of any blood thirsty metal-head…including four fist-banging tracks from the "Consequences" EP that have been fan favorites out on the road.
