ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
“Shauli is extremely talented and has tremendous instinctive love for every aspect of jazz. His tenor playing is authentic and rooted. He is extremely imaginative and has the ability to truly improvise at the highest level and most sophisticated level in the jazz idiom. At the same time, [he] has the utmost respect for the tradition in jazz and it is this sincerity that makes his playing so compelling” - Saxophonist Walt Weiskopf

Shauli Einav is a young emerging Jazz saxophonist. He has already performed with various ensembles on prestigious stages such as the Israel Festival in Jerusalem and The Rochester International Jazz Festival. Recently received Honorable Mention from ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Competition for his composition "Shavu'ot".

He is scheduled to play at this year's Tel-Aviv International Jazz Festival in February of 2008. Shauli has been invited to perform with some of today’s finest Jazz musicians, including bassist Omer Avital, guitarists Bob Sneider and Frank Gambale, and the late saxophonist Arnie Lawrence, among others.

His debut CD contains 6 originals that reflects his genuine composition talent, a mix of middle-eastern music, mainstream jazz & contemporary music.

I highly recommend it if you haven\'t checked it out! I especially liked the 2nd track. The name of the tune is Shavu\'ot, and I don\'t know the meaning of the name, but I think it\'s in Hebrew. Maybe it\'s similar to the word Shalom. I really like the rhythm, and that soprano sax is used. I\'m so glad I have it because I\'ve heard it in concerts before and I wanted to listen to it again!!
