Album Notes

"kjell" (pronounced shell) is a 2003 release by this singer-songwriter from Los Angeles. The album is rich with delicious vocals and catchy, vaguely, country tunes.

The music is best described as "California Kickback." Acoustic driven tunes, with strong vocals, evocative lyrics and layers of contemporary and traditional sounds.

Performer Magazine says:
"This is the kind of music you play loud driving fast on a sunny day with all the windows down because the whole thing feels so good. The diversity of the songs, the uncomplicated lyrics, and Shawn's toothsome singing makes this the sort of CD you keep in your player for months without ever tiring of it."

Music Connection magazine calls her a talented and unique young artist with a promising career.

In addition to "kjell", Shawn has an acoustic/demo release titled "Yellow and Blue". It's available on CD Baby.com

Great vocals and interesting song concepts. The song "shell" is absolutely hypnotic! I could've gotten the CD for that song alone.

The album is astounding. The richness and range with her voice is amazing. Four a yung new artist, Shawn Alexis plays the guitar and sings as if she had been doing this for years. The album is real collective and soothing.

This kid's got "IT" !!!

If you put Maria McKee, the Wilson sisters, and Joni Mitchell in a blender...and maybe added a smidgeon of Stevie Nicks, you'd have yourself an awful mess. Mix their essences in an perfume bottle with a drop of cognac, and you might just get a whiff of Shawn Alexis. If you believe in reincarnation, listen closely to the vocal on "Yellow and Blue." You may get a clue where Patsy Cline went. This little gal is not only promising, she's got "IT" !!!!

Wow vocals. Prettiest voice I ever heard. Heart-breaking, honest, smouldering, that girl sings her tail off!
