A roots-rock treatise featuring guest appearances from founding Jayhawks member Mark Olson and Crazy Horse guitarist Poncho Sampedro.
HARLEM is the result of Shawn's fascination with an unlikely combination of subjects: the American South and the Harlem Renaissance.
"His music has a rootsy bearing that sidesteps the trap of sameness that dogs many of the "No Depression" bands."
- David Greenberger (NPR Contributor)
"Amos links himself not only to an artistic legacy but also to a pointed consciousness of race, politics and art and the ways they clasp together."
- Ernest Hardy (LA Weekly)
"Amos' album [Harlem] is a work of art, an obvious labor of love...a warm, intelligent, satisfying album."
- William Michael Smith (www.Rockzilla.net webzine)
