IN BETWEEN showcases the eclectic, provocative songwriting that prompted Rolling Stone senior editor David Wild to proclaim Amos "a new American singer-songwriter of the first order" and compare him to such legends as Randy Newman and Bill Withers. Writer Michael Toland (HighBias.com) says In Between is "armed with [Amos'] most consistently memorable tunes to date".
In Between once again features Uncle Tom: Robert Jolly - drums; co-producer Patrick Milligan - banjo, guitars; Ben Peeler - lap steel, dobro; Roger Len Smith - bass.
Spanning a wide stylistic terrain, the ten songs on In Between range from ragged glory rock ("Bastard Wind") and pop explorations ("Sugarsweet") to acoustic ruminations ("Sick Of Me") and a bluegrass reinterpretation of Led Zeppelin's "Hot Dog".

Brilliant, unique and much loved!

I love In Between for it's songs which are 'in between' genre's. You get a bit of soul, rock, western, rockabilly, R&B even. Each song has it's own unique blend of styles that make this album a true original.

A good listen from start to finish

I LOVE this CD. All of the songs are really good if not great. Right on Time makes me look for the Tom Petty Greatest Hits file on my ipod. The last three (Santa Fe, Punish You, & Torrance) close out the statement in a strong manner. Sick of Me reps for all of the fathers with a daddy's girl on their mind. Piper lays down a great groove on that one, as well.
