SHAWN JAMES

Shawn James is an award winning songwriter, singer and guitarist who pursues a full time career as Performing Musician. This artist combines a "Musically Delicious" palette of tastes as her songwriting skills span a number of genre's. Shawn has been compared to such talents as Stevie Nicks, Janis Joplin, Tracy Chapman and the legendary Joni Mitchell. She is currently receiving air play on two of her singles "Give Me Back My Heart " in the USA and "Nobody" in Greece, Japan and South America. In addition to her live show's, Shawn is currently building her dream home and recording studio in the mountains of South Carolina.

With a voice as soulful as Tracy Chapman's and as dove like as Joni Mitchell's, Shawn James does the singer-guitarist thing as captivatingly as most of those Lilith Fair lasses.

James possesses plenty of subtle secret weapons that give her music a refreshing earthiness: some lightly funky licks in her guitar playing, a bit of frank eroticism in her lyrics, and an undercurrent of sultriness in her voice that makes her more sexy than those two previously mentioned folk goddesses.

"For The Love Of You" includes some other flavors too. A touching, country-ish ballad titled "Give Me Back My Heart," the playful "Singin' to the Radio," and the seductively, bluesy song called "Dance Around"

While working the proverbial sensitive, introspective side of the folk spectrum, James and her sultry voice bring a refreshing earthiness to that sub-genre. Lightly funky licks wander into her guitar playing. A frank but natural eroticism slithers into her song "J-69 Dance Around"
which surely would have been a hit with the gals of "Sex And The City" As for "No More Misery" James plugs in and gets gritty with some sassy Bonnie Raitt like blues. Hey Sarah McLaughlin-- if you ever take The Lilith Fair out of the moth balls and hit the road with your all female tour again, Shawn James deserves a spot on the bill.
