Musician, singer, artist, film-maker, thinker, lover. These are the many muses of Philadelphia based earSnake artist, Shawn Kilroy.
Kirloy's latest album, "Hessian Love Songs" is the final installment of a trilogy of albums. Kilroy's debut album was "Neon Gate", which featured a stunning array of electro beats, sexy guitars and layers of shimmering vocals, was self released in 2004. The next album of the trilogy, "Thai Stick Dragon" was even an even funkier, more electrofied work-out which featured the dance floor sesation "She's Afriad". Between albums Shawn also worked on the film and production side of things. His film work includes: "Billy the Bullet" the animated YouTube phenomenon by Mitchell Landsman which he mixed and scored, "The Pixel people", the CBS NFL Today commercial series he starred in alongside Rose Luardo, Charlie Sheen and John Cryer, "Eye of the Tiger, Thrill of the Fight", the unCut feature film he mixed and scored and live videos of Spank Rock and Santogold cut with punk videographer, Andrew Geller. In addition to his own songs and production, Shawn Kilroy has remixed artists like Hail Social, Sweatheart and Umlaut. He is currently touring with his ever changing band of pirates and scoundrels bringing his party on wheels to towns across the U.S.A.
The Album:
"Hessian Love Songs" in the culmination of five years of writing, recording and deep loving. This is the third album in a trilogy of records. This album is the culmination of his unique style of dance rock anthems. With catchy guitar hooks, analog synth textures, pedal steel, luscious harmonies and driving beats, this is the perfect late night party record. The sound of the record is very timeless, although it was recorded in late 2008, the sounds are reminiscent of Berlin-era Bowie with a tinge of 80s party rock. There's certainly a sense of joyous irony to release a decadent party record about late night love making and reckless abandon during an economic depression, but really, is there any more appropriate time to release such a celebratory record?
