Shawn also received Stonewall Society's "Dance Award for Pride in the Arts" for the number one single "The Beat of the Lord" and was voted Indie-Music's "Best Songwriter for 2004" after the release of his first Spiritual/Christian Music CD, "Everything I Am". Shawn\'s first CD project as an "out" (openly gay) artist was released in 1999. "Out in This World" peaked at number one twice, and hit number 7 for the Top 50 albums of 2000 on OutVoice.com.
