About Cynthia Shelhart:

Cynthia Shelhart performs, teaches and publishes traditional & contemporary music for the small harp. Based near Chicago in northwest Indiana, her performances feature traditional music of Scotland & Ireland, modern instrumental classics, and her own compositions for double-strung harp.

In addition to solo concerts, Cynthia entertains at Highland Games and Celtic festivals throughout the United States. She is in demand as a teacher and workshop presenter, and also promotes the small harp through her harp reference and music books, published by HarperCraft Productions.

Praise for "Limberlost Angel":

"I love the diversity on this recording. Cindy has the ability to change moods with each piece she plays... I would highly recommend that you add 'Limberlost Angel' to your collection."
-Mary Radspinner, Melody's Traditional Music, Houston TX

"Shelhart includes several tunes that originated as bagpipe tunes. From a piper's perspective, her interpretation of the pipe music breathes fresh life into it. Indeed, many pipers could learn a thing or two about expressing their music by listening to Shelhart's recording, particularly her strathspeys, which display just the right amount of that elusive but critical 'Scottish snap'."
-Scott McClellan, piper, composer & adjudicator, Battle Creek MI

"Cynthia Shelhart's new CD, 'Limberlost Angel,' shows what is possible and delightful on a double-strung harp... I especially liked her high-energy composition 'Walnut Welcome.' Her Celtic selections, notably the medley 'Campbell's Farewell to Redcastle/A. A. Cameron's Strathspey,' show how a double-strung harp can be used most effectively in complex ornamentation."
-Gerry Serviente, Somerset Folk Harp Festival, Somerset NJ

"Now we understand why Scottish lairds had harpers on hand all the time. From the jaunty and upbeat to the sweet and melodious, 'Limberlost Angel' is a treat to the ears and the soul!"
-Gayle and Jack Baker, Rampant Lion Celtic Traders, Villa Park IL

"Very clean, quick playing, with variety of tempos, moods... It is refreshing to hear a totally solo harp recording where every note is as crisp and clean as an April morning."
-Eileen Warr-Marti, Dusty Strings Acoustic Music Shop, Seattle WA

What a talent!

Ms. Shelhart brings to life a 'static' instrument. It is my belief that harps do NOT lend themselves to musical expression, yet Ms. Shelhart has found a way to magically make this happen. I found her choice of compositions exquisite.

It contains a rare recording of a March/Strathspey/Reel set on harp, and this is played with lightness, gaiety, and grace that make listening a true pleasure.
