There are few people lucky enough to have been born with an absolute understanding of their place and purpose in the world. One such person is Toronto-born singer/songwriter Julie Shephard. Since the age of three she has been playing with words and sounds, entertaining herself and those around her. Music seems to flow from her. It's a natural exercise through which she produces lush and intricate folk/pop harmonies.
Julie wrote her first song at the age of 17 and began to explore the world of live performance. For her, music and performing are about exposing your soul and freeing emotions. Whether busking or performing on stage, Julie finds the experience intense and intimate, as thrilling for her as for the audience.

I love Julie Shephard's CD "Completely and off the Floor". It is a nice blend of folk pop. The opening track "Box of Shelter" is absolutely riveting! my personal faves are Rain, Love What Am I Doing Here and Into the Green. This CD is a real listening treat for anyone who buys it! five out of five stars! fantastic, her voice and lyrics meld together to make a winning combination!

Amazing voice! This is a MUST HAVE CD!

Somehow or another I ran across the Julie Shephard site while browsing on CD Baby. After listening to a couple of mp3s, I bought this CD. What an awesome record. Julie has such a beautiful voice. Breathy yet delicate, sexy yet vulnerable and so passionate. Song after song beginning from Box Of Shelter are filled with great lyrics and catchy melodies. It's tough to pick out the best tracks on this album as they are all excellent. Hear The Sounds rocks followed by the sweet ballad Love, What Am I Doing Here. War Of Words hits home to those who have lived through them. Rain is just plain beautiful and so real. I have awakened in the middle of the night with the lyrics and melody of Afraid to Love in my head. I highly recommend this CD. Thanks for sharing your music with us Julie!
