Album Notes

A native to Southern California, Sheri Lee was born into a family of musicians in 1960.
In her earlier years as a child, Sheri would listen to her parents sing tunes of old time gospel and bluegrass favorites. Although country, gospel and bluegrass were the music of choice at home, Sheri had a love for all music. By the age of six she would sit next to the radio with her ear pressed against the speakers to soak in the sounds and sing along with any tune playing. It was then she would develop her natural talent for picking apart harmonies and teaching herself each vocal part. Sheri would not abandon her roots to her early influences from artists such as The Lovin Brothers, Johnny Cash, George Jones and Connie Smith to name a few, but would discover a new world of music as she grew into her teen years. Artists like The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and Linda Ronstadt would balance out her appetite for diversities in music culture. At the age of sixteen, Sheri had found her true inspiration and her heart felt calling to Bluegrass. A female artist Sheri had not heard before took her by surprise with her unique singing style and guitar playing. That artist was Emmylou Harris. Sheri instantly gravitated to other artists in that genre of musicians. Ricky Skaggs, The Whites and Tony Rice would inspire Sheri Lee to focus on her guitar playing and song writing skills. Sheri Lee has had many successes through out her life both in family and music. She has found her recipe to balance out the focus on her music career while raising three children with her husband. Lee is credited with writing the anthem for Julian, Ca., appropriately named “Julian” which is also on her first C.D, “ More Than Words”, under the Tricopolis label.
Lee takes pride in surrounding herself with top of the heap musicians while playing live as well as having them as special guests on her recordings. Artists such as Sara and Sean Watkins, Chris Hillman, Herb Pederson, Eric Uglum, Dean Knight and the extended arm of her creativity Dave Richardson have lent support in rounding out the unique sound Sheri Lee is so well known for.
Lees new album, "Where The Blue Sky Ends" was released under her own label, "Blue Heart Recordings" in November of 2005. The CD relase party was held at Lees' home in Southern California. This intimate gathering was filled with warmth and laughter as Sheri Lee and the Blue Heart Band performed songs from the new CD to perfection. Tear filled eyes and anxious ears absorbed the sounds of true and honest stories wrapped in music. "Where The Blue Sky Ends" is quickly gaining notoriety as a masterpiece. If your searching for hooks and heatstrings,"Where The Blue Sky Ends" serves it up Bluegrass style.

I LOVE this album!! (Yes, I STILL call them albums – a well assembled grouping of songs.) This grouping shows Sheri to be an expressive singer, and a writer of songs that tug and pull each tender heart’s string. And the cast of pickers! Guest spots from Hillman & Pedersen, AND the fine Witcher brothers, and on and on. Get this CD (or album) and play it often – it’s medicinal. I’m so proud to be able to offer it up to my radio listeners. Please bring us more, Sheri! (Rik James, “Americana Backroads” KGLT-FM , Bozeman, MT)

Being on the other side of the big ocean, we only get info of new singer/songwriters through a limited number of channels. I am very lucky that CD Baby informed me that this title was available. Great music, a lot of bluegrass, part country, part folk. Great combination. Add the great guests Chris and Herb and you have all ingredients to sell this album.
