Album Notes

Originally from Rochester, NY, Sherry Finzer (Pearl Flute Performing Artist) now resides in Phoenix, AZ and performs as a soloist and also with large number of professional musicians in Phoenix and throughout Arizona, including her groups dulce VAS and Radiant Sky. Trained classically, Sherry has chosen to explore other styles of music and has recorded her own CD’s, Desert Journey, Radiant Sky, Sanctuary and Christmas Picante, and has also recorded CD’s with Drew Diego Bennett and with other Phoenix musicians.

She also performs classical music and has won three national competitions, and was selected from hundreds of entrants to perform with the National Flute Association's Professional Flute Choir (alto) in August 2007 at the Albuquerque Convention, and in August 2006 at the convention in Pittsburgh, PA. Sherry was also selected to perform in the Newly Published Music concert at the convention in Pittsburgh in 2006 and has won first place in the Arizona Flute Society Competition - Nov 2008, and the Great Southwest Flute Fair Competition - March of 2006 and 2007.

Sherry is the Founder and President of the Arizona World Music Initiative, www.azwmi.org, which is an interactive music awareness program being taken into local AZ schools. She is also the Vice President and Program Chairperson for the Arizona Flute Society, where she helps to bring in guest artists and educational programs for the flute community, www.azflutes.org. Sherry has been teaching flute students for over ten years and currently teaches at her private studio and also at MusicMakers Workshops in Phoenix, AZ.
