Even Scrooges will love it!

Want to keep Christmas in your heart all year long? Pick up this album. As a recovering Scrooge, I'm not easily swayed by Christmas music, but Have Yourself A Sherry Little Christmas celebrates music as much as it celebrates the holiday. In arranging mainstays such as "Angels We Have Heard On High" and "What Child Is This," Sherry K smartly pulls us into Christmas with just enough familiar melody, then provides the twist to show us a song from a whole different perspective. Titled differently, originals like "Following A Star" and "Destination: Bethlehem" could fit well on any non-holiday piano jazz album, but in this context, they explore the deeper, more contemplative aspects of the Christmas story without losing hope or accessibility. As on previous albums, Sherry K continues to deliver on the stories promised by her original song titles - a rarity in modern instrumental releases. Even on "Favorite Time Of Year" - which a Scrooge like me may approach with trpeidation - Sherry remains true to her jazzy self, and the song is joyous without being treacly. I suspect several of these selections will be leaking from my Christmas mix into year-round rotation, and isn't that our hope for the spirit of Christmas?

Wow, Sherry K's "Little" Christmas is really BIG in passion, character, charm, snazziness and creativity. Oh, and might I add she can get around on the keys most impressively ! If you know someone big iike Dino or Jim Brickman, or George Winston, tell them to watch out and give this Sherry K a listen. There is music here to dance to, contemplate to, smile to, and just just purely enjoy. You will be very glad that you bought this CD at Christmas, but you could really play this any time of the year. Finally something original and definitely worth a listen. Enjoy !!!
