Shery: Love is a Ghost (El Amor es un Fantasma)
Family legend says she learned to sing before starting to speak, repeating for hours what she heard in the albums her mom played relentlessly night and day.
Shery is a new, passionate singer, songwriter and producer, gifted with a voice that captivates the senses and goes deep into the heart, who writes and performs inspired, organic songs distilled right from her soul, transcending the barriers of language.
Through her very own brand of melodic, sensual pop, she celebrates the shadows, ecstasies and, above all, the agonies of love.
Now, after two and a half years of relentless work, scoring in the process four #1 hits on the radio charts nationwide in her country, this young raising star from Guatemala has just released her debut album, “El Amor es un Fantasma” (in English: “Love Is a Ghost”), an irresistible torrent of 13 original songs, written entirely by herself, each alive with its own aura of melodic genius.
Two guest compositions complete the track list: one from Jose Luis Perales, the great Spanish romantico, and the other by singer / producer Francesco Sondelli, who also joins Shery for a soul-shaking duet in Italian. Other duets on the album feature Guatemalan vocalist Jorge "el Bardo" Alvarado, and Cuban-American singer Daniel Rene, former member of the popular Latin-Pop band Menudo / MDO.
The album includes a track mixed by legendary Eddie Kramer, producer of Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Kiss, The Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker, Carlos Santana and David Bowie.
"El Amor es un Fantasma" is named after the first song ever written by Shery, a mellow, intimate track which scored 26 straight weeks in the Guatemalan Top 40, earned her a medal in the World Championships of the Performing Arts, in Hollywood, was selected one of the winners of the Unisong Songwriting Competition, and was finalist (among 15,000 entries from all over the world) in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, in New York.
Born an August 18 under the sign of Leo, Shery has shared stage with such Latin superstars as Enrique Iglesias, Chayanne, Christian Castro, Manuel Mijares, Miguel Bose and Aleks Syntek.

La leyenda familar dice que aprendió a cantar antes que a hablar, repitiendo las melodias que escuchaba en los discos que su madre sonaba sin descanso dia y noche.
Shery es una nueva, apasionada cantautora, dotada de una voz que cautiva los sentidos y penetra profundo en el corazon, que escribe e interpreta canciones inspiradas, organicas, destiladas desde el fondo de su alma, que trascienden las barreras del lenguaje.

Su camino como artista empezo muy temprano en su vida, con su rostro de 5 años cubierto de harina mojada, un palo de trapeador haciendo las veces de microfono, escoba por guitarra y un arsenal de cacharros de cocina sirviendo de bateria, mientras ella y sus hermanos jugaban a convertirse en la mega banda Kiss.
Actualmente, tras dos años y medio de trabajo despiadado, anotandose en el camino cuatro hits #1 en radio a nivel nacional en su pais, esta joven estrella guatemalteca recien acaba de lanzar su album debut, "El amor es un fantasma", espectacular coleccion de 13 canciones originales, cada una con su propia aura de genialidad melodica.
Dos temas invitados completan el disco: uno de Jose Luis Perales, el gran romantico español, y otro escrito especialmente para la ocasión por el productor y cantante Francesco Sondelli, quien asi mismo une su voz con la de Shery para interpretar un emocionante dueto en italiano. Haciendo duetos participan tambien el guatemalteco Jorge "el Bardo" Alvarado, y el cantante cubano-americano Daniel René, ex integrante de la popular banda de pop latino Menudo / MDO.

"El amor es un fantasma" lleva el nombre de la primer cancion que Shery escribio, la cual se mantuvo por 26 semanas consecutivas en el Top 40 guatemalteco, fue finalista (entre 15,000 participaciones de todo el mundo) en el Concurso de Composicion John Lennon, de Nueva York, estuvo premiada por la Competencia de Composicion Unisong en Los Angeles, y le merecio una medalla en la Olimpiada Mundial de las Artes Escenicas, en Hollywood.
Nacida un 18 de agosto bajo el signo de Leo, Shery ha compartido escenario con estrellas latinas de la talla de Enrique Iglesias, Chayanne, Christian Castro, Manuel Mijares, Miguel Bose and Aleks Syntek.
