The soul of NOT AN ORDINARY GIRL is Brazil’s Northeast Region - Salvador da Bahia. The city of Salvador is the epicenter for many of Brazils most progressive and exciting percussion players. Sheryl’s songs mix the energy and percussive force born in Salvador with American Pop.
The end result is a cross between Bebel Gilberto and Jamiroquai. It is music that is refined, groovy and fun. After experiencing this 5 Song EP, you will be left wanting more.
Sheryl Cohen is a New York based musician who travels frequently to Brazil to perform. She is the recipient of ASCAP’S 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005 and 2004 ASCAPLUS AWARD.
A Berklee College Of Music graduate, Sheryl is the founder of Copy Cat Music. Copy Cat Music is a music transcription and music copying company.

Get the groove

Sheryl Cohen is an absolutely amazing talent! She sings, she writes, she brings the music alive. She is certainly no ordinary girl and no ordinary musician. However, her groove most certainly has not set me free. The CD may only have five tracks but I just can't get enough. Her music will have a place in the Vilnius Jewish Library. Now back for one more listen.

I can't stop listening to this CD! I bought the CD to add to the collection of the Vilnius Jewish Library. There are only five songs on this CD but they keep playing over and over. I really should change the CD but can't quite make my fingers cooperate. Sheryl Cohen produces, writes, and sings. I am surprised she didn't also do the handclaps. She has a voice that is so very easy to listen to. The songs are catchy and I am afraid I have caught the Cohen fever. As much as I enjoy her music on CD, I would enjoy even more hearing her in person just so I could tell her incredible she is! No ordinary girl describes her so very well.
