Thirteen-year-old Dan Tyler is the ultimate dreamer, and he needs his best friend Sandra Day Goldberg, an aspiring lawyer, to keep him grounded. But can their friendship survive a bully in the form of queen bee Jade, a mean teacher nicknamed the Dragon, Dan's budding romance with Gwen, and Sandy's desire to fit in despite having a best friend who does nothing but stick out? This sweet and funny book for middle graders is sure to make them laugh and hopefully fall in love its quirky characters. It encourages kids not to be afraid of being themselves.
Shevi Arnold sees herself as both a Dan and a Sandy. She’s a creative dreamer, like Dan, but she’s also a smart and funny advocate for justice, like Sandy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shevi has worked as an editorial cartoonist, comics magazine editor, consumer columnist, newspaper illustrator, and art-and-entertainment writer specializing in comedy and family entertainment. She loves exercising her creativity in every possible way, but above all she loves to make people laugh. As Shevi says, "If I've made someone laugh, I know my job is done."
Married and with two children, a boy and a girl, Shevi now lives in a small town in New Jersey. She hopes to someday publish her many picture books, illustrated chapter books, novels for teens, and other books, and she looks forward to creating a series with Dan and Sandy as the main characters. Although she walks her own path, she is never alone. Shevi always has a friendly little dragon or fairy on her shoulder to keep her entertained.
