The first volume of compositions by San Francisco piano man Eric Shifrin. Hosting a platoon of huge talent from the bay area and beyond, Shifrin presents his jazz based composititions.
Trumpeter Chief Sanchez, the pride of Santa Fe, New Mexico is fiery one minute and comical the next in multiple contributions on this disc, including the feather bed horn arrangement on Fondly Remembered.
Pete Cornell blows his "tough" tenor sax on several numbers and he's featured on the waltz: Time Alone.
In addition to Dennis Norby on drums and Bing Nathan on bass (original members of Eric & The In Crowd) there are appearances by bassists Chris Amberger and Ari Munkres and by percussionist/drummer Raul Ramirez.
Finally there are 5 bonus tracks from the eighties when Shifrin was foremost an alto sax player, and issued here for the first time in a digital format. There are two duets with pianist Joe Indence , and three tunes with the Delta Trio from Santa Fe. Chief Sanchez is featured again on two of these rare New Mexico cuts. The conclusion is the epic December Sun.
