Album Notes

After a year long hiatus, The Shiftless Rounders, underground champions of alternative old-time music, are returning to the road and stage with a new album "Warm Clothing Line." While continuing to explore the possibilities of reinterpreting traditional Appalachian music for their own purposes, the Shiftless Rounders take one step further out on the Old-Time limb on their new project, relying heavily on the original songs by guitarist and banjoist, Phillips Saylor Wisor. On this latest effort, Wisor writes in his trademark, neo-beatnik style of the plight and perils of life on the street and those who exist on the margins of society. "Warm Clothing Line" is a wake up call to listens who normally pass by the homeless panhandlers and the down-and-out hitchhikers without a thought and raises the possibilities that "hey - this could be you one day. this could be me. a little more respect, please." The flip side of this album chronicles the adventures the Shiftless Rounders on the road, from their worst gig ever in Colorado (in the enduring "Bloody Murder") to their fondness of spur of the moment fishing trips (as in the raucous "White Bucket").
A wholly Canadian effort, "Warm Clothing Line" was recorded in Edmonton by Scott Franchuck (Old Reliable, Corb Lund) and produced by Luther Wright (Luther Wright and the Wrongs, Weeping Tile).

I enjoy these guys\' music & have all 3 of their discs and was there for their \"worst gig ever\"! This CD presents a more somber side of the Rounders overall--no breakdown-paced rave-ups like on earlier releases. I miss those, but Warm Clothing Line (not to mention the worst gig) shows they\'re sure good at pickin\' even if they ain\'t a-grinnin\'.
