Album Notes

Hi everybody, and welcome to my website.

Let me tell you a little about myself.

I'm pretty involved in this music thing right now. I play some piano. I sing. I write music and lyrics. I've been having some trouble reconciling the different kinds of music I love to play and write, so hopefully this website will help you (and me) make some sense of it.

A big part of what I do is play jazz piano. I've got a trio record that came out in 1997 that you can check out on the discography page. I've done some playing on other people's records, some of which are listed there as well, and all kinds of work as a sideman with people like Luciana Souza, Kenny Wheeler, Clark Terry, Kim Nazarian, Lisa Thorson, and for that matter, perhaps every jazz singer in the northeast.

I write music in the jazz idiom, or, more accurately, you could call it "contemporary improvised music," as it draws on all kinds of styles.

Very soon, in May, or June, perhaps, you'll be able to buy a new "jazz" record of my original stuff, entitled "Other Voices." Lately, though, I've been writing and singing these nice little pop tunes.

I spent 2 years recording them, and put them together in this volume called "Different Songs." I'm pretty fond of the record, and I hope you will be, too.

I've been playing on and producing a few other artists' records, and I hope you'll look at the discography page and check them out, too.

I've also been teaching Ear Training and Ensembles at Berklee College of Music for the past three years, which has been challenging and rewarding.

Teaching this stuff enhances my own knowledge of it, and the students inspire me with their talent and enthusiasm.
