Shine is an annual songwriting contest and concert series underwritten by Sunmark Federal Credit Union (Schenectady, NY) that promotes local songwriters and bands performing original music in the Albany, NY area while raising money for school music programs.
In these times of pressure on school budgets, the arts are often the first programs to get cut. Research has shown that music eductaion helps develop critical thinking skills, so even students who go on to become scientists, business people or engineers benefit from experience in music.
The artists on this CD participated in a juried songwriting contest and offered their songs in the effort to raise money for our local schools.
This CD has something for everyone, from blues to bluegrass, contemporary christian to gospel, acoustic and modern folk to family fair, teen angst, classic rock to country - you'll find it all in this little CD and help school children in urban schools discover the joy of making music at the same time.
