God called the Shook Family into the gospel music ministry in 1960. They had five children. All the children were involved in the ministry. Home schooling was how the children were educated as the family traveled and ministered in music the year around. The ministry was performed in revivals, missions conferences, concerts, youth camps, etc.
The Shook Family presented the gospel in music in some 38 states and Canada. They played several instruments including the piano, organ, flute, harmonica, guitar and bass guitar. The family wrote some 60 gospel songs and poems. They recorded 24 gospel albums that included over 200 songs. Their recordings began with 45 RPM records, 33 1/3 RPM LP's, 8-track tapes, cassette tapes and most of the music is now available on CDs.
The Shook Family are know and loved for their traditional western style of music. If you have enjoyed Roy Rogers and Gene Autry's style then you will also enjoy the Shook Family and if you listen close you will hear some great yodeling also!
They were all born and raised in the state of Colorado and call Colorado their home.

Dear Brother Shook,
Ever since your appearance at Mineral Heights Baptist Church in Greenville it has been on my heart to let you know that i believe that the three tapes that I purchased after the service was one of the best buys that I have ever made.
I have enjoyed your messages many times and they grow on me each time that I listen to them.
I just wanted to let you know that I have been encouraged by the Spirit to let you know how much your music message has filled my heart with joy (especially the old song Sweet By and By) and I tell everyone about you and really look forward to hearing you again next year when you come back to Mineral Heights if not sooner.
Your wife is probably the best pure lady singer that I have heard and have heard a few, and you know Amy really grows on you.
You probably don't remember me but I was the guy talking to you about T. Texas Tyler, Hank Williams, and David Houston that really doesn't matter what matters is that you have made another person happy with your excellent message about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
May He continue to Bless and keep you and your Family as you travel across the country telling His story. I love you Brother and I pray that the Lord will ride with you until He returns which will not be very long.
With Love in Christ,
Don Christopher

Loved this family/group, for years! Please say hello to Rhonda for me, and tell her I'd love to hear from her and know how God has blessed her life. She should still remember me from our teens, where we met when the family did a show at Commerce City Baptist Church, in the mid 70's. Would really love to hear from you all, the family was so good to me, as we became good friends. Be well, all. And God bless!
