Album Notes

The Shook Twins themselves, Katelyn and Laurie, have been singing together since the womb. They have been creating music for the past five years and playing live for three. They were joined by bassist Kyle Volkman and cellist Lane Exworthy in October of ‘07, then in February ‘08 percussionist Colin Duclos Joined and completed the well-bound team of talented musicians.
The Group went down to Santa Cruz, CA in December ‘07 to record this full-length album as a band (minus Duclos, the percussionist). They recorded at Indigital Studio with former producer and friend Brody Bergholz. “You Can Have the Rest” has been very successful in the area, and received highly complimentary press reviews. For example, Patrick Jacobs of the Spokesman Review (March 8th 2008) stated that
“’…You Can Have the Rest’ will surely rank as one of the finest Inland Northwest albums of all time...”
Also John Reuter of the Sandpoint Reader (January 31st 2008) wrote:
“...While the Shook Twins describe themselves as "acoustic, indie, folk, pop," the pop label clearly no longer fits… with the help of Producer/Engineer Brody Bergholz, the Twins have created a deeper, multi-layered sound which manages to acknowledge disappointment and heartbreak with out going over-the-top and becoming just another self-satisfied ‘dark’ album…”
It's a new and professional sound that they are certainly proud of. Get ready for a whole new Shook Twins experience!
