Album Notes

Shooting John plays a form of Americana, alternative country rock with soulful melodies, straighforward vocals and harmonies, influenced by artists like Neil Young, Wilco, Pearl Jam and Bob Dylan.

The band was formed back in 1999 by Tobias, Martin and Peder and has lived through various constellations before the present.

After a few years of constant irregularity concerning rehearsals and gigs - due to travel, studies and creative crises to name a few - they all finally managed to make enough time to put an entire album together, "Moodswings".
They rented a studio and a house and were stacked up there for about ten days, recording.

The release inspired them to a greater focus on the music, to give it a real chance.
It gave them a solid ground to start from and helped them to form a clearer idea of what they wanted to do with the band.

After a few months of playing and promoting their music in Sweden, they felt that it was time to turn their gaze towards the rest of the world, primarily Germany and USA.

In 2007 they returned to the studio to record their second album Happiness +/- which will be released in Scandinavia 7th of September 2007.

REVIEWS

It's a very beautiful and convincing second album from the swedes. Every song balances between the heavenly hopeful and the tragic and doomed. Peder's deep and elegant vocals speak to your emotions. The single War is a masterpiece but also Love and will and Mornings past is worth mentioning in that same breath. www.gaffa.dk
