Bio:
Kenny's been performing mostly in NC, SC, and VA over the past 20 years in colleges, clubs, coffeehouses, etc.

In the 1980s his band, the Dayroom Monitors (named by a psychiatric pt.! 3 band members worked at a psych hospital), played the NC original music club scene and received critical praise.

With demos produced by Dick Hodgin (Hootie & the Blowfish, Cravin' Melon, C.O.C., Flat Duo Jets, etc.) they received lots of attention from major and indie record labels but never signed a deal before breaking up in 1989.

That's when Kenny headed off to NYC and studied audio engineering at the Institute of Audio Research.

He worked at S.I.R. Rehearsal Studios and 321 Recording Studios (the former Record Plant) and worked with lots of cool people including John Lennon's producer, Jack Douglas! He also met and worked with artists such as Mariah Carey (just before she released her first album), Harry Connick, Jr., Johnny Winter, Paul Shaffer, etc.

Kenny also performed in the City, mainly at "the Speakeasy" --a folk club in the Village-- and even tried the subways!
He moved back to NC in 1990 and went back to school, receiving his Master's in Social Work from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1995.

He now has 3 kids! But music has continued to be a strong force in his life and he's kept up the gigging.

He released an 8 song cassette in 1996 called "8 Shell".

Kenny's now performing more than ever and has returned to booking colleges--where he really enjoys playing.

He's recorded 3 songs with producer Dick Hodgin again on a 3 song demo at Osceola Studios in Raleigh, NC. He's continuing to record and plans are for an early 2004 release of a new CD, tentatively titled "Psychopopfolkabilly". Producer Ian Schreier (mixing engineer for the Grammy nominated "Roomful of Blues" album "That's Right") is working with Kenny on the rest of the album. Possible songs are: Watching Her (an old Monitors song reworked), Ballad of Ernie Shore (about Red Sox legend & kinfolk), Take Me Back (new one about remembering simpler times), Dean's List (college antics song), Psychopopfolkabilly, Able To Try (people say it sounds like a John Hiatt song!), Where Does Love Go (the song he pitched to Clay's mom), Write Me A Letter, etc.

Kenny showcased at the Nashville New Music Conference in September (2003) where he had a blast! He ended up being interviewed on WSMV-TV about Johnny Cash's death, and even performed "Get Rhythm" and "Folsom Prison Blues" live on the air! He also met Cash's producer from Sun Records, Jack Clement! (there'll be photos soon at his new website, www.kennyshore.com)

Buy One Breath At A Time while you can! And come back soon to check on when the new full album comes out! (early 2004)

A broad brush stroke of music in this genre. These originals resound with some of Shore's influences. Insulting (I hear REM), Every Single Word (lays perfect for Neil Young), I Found Jesus, and Hold You Close (truly a hit song if someone would pick it up) are my favorites. No pretentiousness here...the guy loves what he's doing and he's good at it.
