This is Kenny's 2nd CD on Hi Top Records and shows how his songwriting has taken a giant leap forward. This album is a mix of some of the best of his funny songs with his more serious rootsy, folkpop ballads. His backup bands, Widget and the Hot Donuts Trio, both serve as perfect compliments to his eclectic styles on this album.
Baseball fans should check out "Ernie Shore" -- a fascinating and true story from 1917 when the Boston Red Sox were 'defending World Champions'! Kenny's relative was a pitcher and had an amazing game against the Senators that ended up in the record books.
Gary Owen's layered guitars melt all over "Where Feelings Go" and add subtle texture to "Ogburn Avenue" and "Writing On the Wall" without overpowering either song.
Steve Samosky's bass meanders all over these songs giving them an interesting depth.
Ian Schreier does double duty by engineering all but 3 songs -- the 3 he plays drums on! And he does a fine job in both departments.
Margaret White -- from the band, Regina Hexaphone, etc -- does some fine fiddling throughout Ernie Shore, Cryin', and Miserable Cat.
Carla Burgess adds the perfect touch of percussion and backup vocals on several songs.
There's so much to say about this album! Check it out for yourself by clicking on the adjacent songlist to hear mp3 clips.

Don't miss this guy!

I first encountered Kenny Shore at my son's preschool. He was playing for the kids, mostly standard kid songs. Little did I know that he is an experienced songwriter and musician, and a quite talented one at that. The songs are both multi-layered and catchy. I've been listening to it for a few weeks now with no desire to remove it from the CD player. With his wit and wistfulness, he has me hoping he'll do another CD soon.

When I got this CD and listened all the way through, I ran outside and screamed "yeehaw"! It just tickled my innerds! I slapped myself twice and ripped my jeans trying to do a James Brown split. I ran inside, jumped on my computer and ordered 14 copies to give to all my cousins, who live in Upper Moldavia and have no access to clean toilets, let alone great music like this. I especially love the title track, 'Psychopopfolkabilly!' which is now my personal anthem. Can't wait for the next one by this feller!
