Album Notes

Some of Justin's favorite songs are by Bob Dylan, Merle Haggard, Woody Guthrie, Mississippi John Hurt, John Prine, and the Beatles, and it shines through his original compositions such as Talkin T-Mobile, Birdman, Forsaken Soldier, Shake the Treetops, Molasses, and A Letter from No One (to an Imaginary Man).

Justin usually performs solo, his vocals shifting from fiery to carefree to pleading to smiling to crying. The songs are well-crafted, familiar, surprising, whispered, rocking and rolling.

Growing up the son of a Baptist minister, Justin was raised on hymns and Southern gospel. Picking up a guitar at age 15, he quickly joined his church's music band, and began to write his own songs. Years later, he agreed to sing his songs publicly as an opening act for his friend, Philly singer/songwriter John Francis. That night he decided he would play music as much as possible.

In 2005 he began playing Boston area open mikes at Club Passim, Roggie's, Pugliese's, Cantab Lounge, All Asia Bar, Lizard Lounge, and others. In 2007 he released his first full-length album. The CD release party was a success, packing the All Asia Club to capacity. Justin was featured in Relix Magazine (June 2007) as one of Ourstage.com's "most intriguing uploads yet".
