Lowcountry bluesman Shrimp City Slim, based in historic Charleston, SC, and his hard-hitting band have earned an international reputation for their provocative coastal Carolina blues music.

"Highway 17", their sixth CD, is an all-live set recorded in Charleston, Savannah, Charlotte, and Torino, Italy. Highlights include hot harmonica from Chuck "The Cat" Morris, rock-solid drumming from John Etheridge, burning guitar from Silent Eddie Phillips, and of course SCS keeping it on the road with some great keyboard work and plaintive vocals.

The anthemic "Highway 17" leads the way (as featured on National Public Radio's "Whadya' Know?") with other special moments like "Lowcountry Mama" ('while my brother's up North shovellling snow'), "Call Me in Carolina", "Something in the Water" (as featured on Turner South's "Off the Menu" (TV), "Long Way to Go", and other staples of Shrimp City Slim's live shows.

Harmonica authority Adam Gussow, on his YouTube "Modern Blues Harmonica" channel, has a lengthy discussion/demonstration of Morris's harp work on this CD, with this YouTube piece getting over 12,000 hits to date.
