Chad Shrock - A Modern Minstrel consists of twenty energetic songs of "Modern Celtic" music. Traditional Irish, Scottish, and English melodys are performed on mandolin to a background of various modern music styles. The result is a musical hybrid of the old and the new that will awaken the mind and lift the spirits!
On this album Chad plays melody mandolin, rhythm mandolin, rhythm electric guitar, bass, synth, and drums/percussion as well as producing, engineering, editing, mixing, and mastering the album. He also designed the artwork for the cd's front and back cover.
A musician of 16 years, Chad is currently living in Peru, Indiana and doing the "one man thing", that is, performing solo in support of this album. And, as always, he can be found in the studio working on the next project.

Are you a fan of Celtic music but are tired of the same old, boring pub sing-alongs of the Cheiftans and the lush, atmospheric, synthesizer-laden Celtic-new age music of Enya? Well then this CD is for you! Tradtional Celtic melodies in modern arrangements all led by the mandolin - a gorgeous instrument often shadowed by fiddles and pipes in tradtional Celtic music. The music on this CD is traditional, but with the additude of rock, the island shuffle of reggae, and even the break-beat of techno - so fun you might want to take this CD with you on your boat! Shrock played all the instruments, produced the album himself and designed all the artwork for it - he definately lives up to the title of this CD and his music is awesome. Check out the following tracks: "Drowsie Maggie", "The Maid Behind the Bar/The Musical Priest", "The Abby Reel"-(featuing a human beat-box backing), "The Red-Haired Boy" and many others. The only reason I give this CD four stars is that the tracks could be just a tad longer, but "A Modern Minstrel" is quite an album.
