Shrouded Day's "Legend of the Shadow-Touched" is the culmination of years of musical exploration and adventure. After collaborating with composer Ken Hill on the short-lived but very successful project Torchlight Creek, the flute wizard himself began to share his vision with his own music project, a blend of relaxing and dynamic instrumental pieces and even the occasional pop rock-flavored vocal track. Shrouded Day isn't just about one man, however; many musicians have lent their considerable talents to the project, including Ken Hill himself on the Creek-reminiscent guitar and flute tune "Cloudshapers" and the haunting "Shadow Children," both available here for purchase. Shrouded Day's mournful ambience shines through on such tracks as "Walking Shadow" as much as its dynamic zest explodes on pulse-pounding tracks like "Jupiter Tour."
THE LEGEND POEM
I pass uncertain, frightened as a child,
through this dark place of truth.
The night takes me for a friend
as my walking shadow shrouds me from the day.
Above us looms a ceiling made of fragile crystal,
supported only by pillars of dream decay.
Ghost dance silent with me under the archway
as we learn together the legends of the shadow-touched.
I catch only glimpses of you through storybook visions,
sun-white and shadowless, a cloud of haze in my sight.
It is your laughing magic
which keeps me from descending unfettered
into the deep indigo silence which claims to be my friend.
Take my hand. Together we can harness the cloudshapers
and make wisps of cirrus drift into nimbus formations
until the sun bursts through in prismatic lensflare.
Although the shadow children may whisper in your ear,
grinless spectres haunting the wastes of who we were,
your legend in its naked wisdom
is fast approaching infinite acceleration.
Let us become as one unchained,
a visionary flight through the solar system,
a Jupiter tour and a dance on the rings of Saturn,
before breaking the boundaries of known space.
