Album Notes

The Straight Bio - No Funny Stuff The Shrugs began in
a garage in the quiet suburb of Hamilton East, New Zealand in 2000. Since then, there have been four discrete lineups:
Version One: Richie Ranum Neil Ramsey Geoff Doube. Richie went to Auckland.
Version Two: Neil Ramsey Geoff Doube Chris Metcalfe. Neil went to London
Version Three: Geoff Doube Chris Metcalfe Rob Smith Chris quit to become a travelling furniture salesman. Rob quit to pursue his solo project.
Version Four: Geoff Doube Gordon Bassett Natalie McKelvey.
The Shrugs have never won any band competition or received any public funding, despite having attempted both. They have never been on TV, have never played at a major sporting event or at the opening of a furniture store, and have not supported anyone bigger than the Datsuns.Despite having had some close encounters with the Auckland bullshit machine, the Shrugs have ultimately failed to attract any media 'buzz'. However, they have been regularly playlisted on the b-net stations. The most common reaction from promoters after they book the Shrugs and then see them play is surprise.

Tis a grand thing and should be heard by more people. Loud as you like and twice as fun.
