Album Notes

".....hot dance music." "...inspired and technically fine playing...eminently danceable." The Pakntreger

The New Shtetl Band plays hot klezmer music and the music from Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Greece and the Middle East.

The band takes its name from the small towns and ghettos, called shtetls, in which Jews lived from the middle ages until the middle of the 20th century. The New Shtetl Band is unique both locally and nationally in its ability to bring life to many different musical traditions. This music has been central to people's lives and rituals for hundreds of years.

amazing energetic stuff

I saw New Shtetl in concert every chance I got, and I was only too happy to be able to take a bit home with me in the form of this CD. They're energetic, have flawless performance, and have a great blend of Shtetl music and other instruments.

Borscht, kreplach, some nice herring...this CD tastes good!
author: Christopher Von Volborh
The New Shtetl Klezmer Band epitomizes jewish soul. The music is best enjoyed with your eyes closed, or with a hot pastrami sandwich on rye (horseradish please!). These guys are enthusiastic, musical, honest and down to earth. The music is very competently executed and eminently enjoyable. Better you should buy such a CD. Abi gezint!
