In "Songs of Praise," Shuly Nathan ventures into the world of traditional Jewish prayer and song for the Jewish Sabbath Day and festivals.

The disc includes the moving "Mi Ha'Ish," which Shuly made famous as a duet with the well-known and beloved Israeli singer Nehama (Helena) Hendel, "Lekha Dodi," Benzion Shenker's musical setting for "Mizmor LeDavid," and a medley she recorded together with young women of the Japanese Makuya movement, which is known for its great love of Israel.

Listeners will enjoy everything from the well-known traditional songs of Jewish eastern Europe to the more esoteric Oriental prayers such as "Matai Hayom," which Shuly learned from a Moroccan rabbi, and "Yedid Nefesh," also set to a lively Moroccan tune.
