Album Notes

The Western interpretation of independence is constantly being scrutinized by the ever-detached, emotionless presence of big government and it's illusory, pecuniary, inequitable taxation of freedom.

However, non-commercial, free form, college and community radio remains one of the last mediums of autonomist art left in our deteriorating, media-soaked, conformist society.

With complete neutrality of commercial agenda and absolute sovereignty of economic enslavement, the unsigned, independent artists of this issue of "A Low Watt Document" invite you to observe, revere and advocate their perspective of musical individuality through this disc.

Welcome to the first installment of Shut Eye Records' exclusive series, "A Low Watt Document", a dedication to, and almanac of: non-commercial, free form college radio.

We've subtitled this initial edition, "Frequency Modification" - as that is what we intend to do.

In the silvery grooves of this and forthcoming issues of "A Low Watt Document", you, the radio station music director, the independent thought enthusiast, the insurgent pop art devotee, the practicing revolutionary, the frustrated critic and/or hospitable proponent will attain that which satisfies the superior taste buds of your distinguishing, almighty palette.

This tuneful buffet contains intriguing fare that has essentially been overlooked by the automated, victimized masses that fall prey to the high watt, low intellect radio stations.

The songs on "A Low Watt Document" have been reserved for those radio purveyors who actively demand quality - not Pavlov's Dogs who consume what and when they are told.

Although we hold no guarantees that these truths are self-evident, that all of the contained offerings will gratify every aspect of your insatiable auditory aesthetic; we vow that every assessor who replaces this disc in it's jewel box after levelheaded evaluation, is sure to have been affected in some captivating manner.

Not every song is for everyone.

Some like it salty.

Some like it sweet.

Some are discordant anorexics.

Whatever your pleasure (or infirmity), let this unique combination of power-pop, electronica, rock 'n roll, punk, alt.country, surf, reggae and other fusions ring loudly on the airwaves and speak valiantly in the music publications! To quote punk-nonconformists, the MC5, "This is a true testimonial." Are you ready to testify?
