Born in Camden New Jersey on the sixth day of July 1978, she is Shyrita Washington, the youngest of three children.

She comes from a family of ministers. It goes back to her grandfather who is now a Bishop and her mother who is a Pastor.

She has been singing since the age of six and performing since the age of eight.

Singing at her grandfathers church is where she got her first chance to sing in front of a congregation.

By the age of fifteen, she had become the choir director at,"Love of Christ Church of Faith," where her mother Pastors.

After two years of that, her mother encouraged her to write her own material. With that in mind, she began to write. She now have a number of songs written in the genre of Gospel.

In June of 2000, she performed a song she wrote entitled,"Open Your Eyes," in the,"USA Talent Search," held in Delmar Delaware. She won first place for her category and also the overall prize.

Within the same month, she sent this song off to the,"Coca Cola True Talent Artist Search,"hoping to be chosen as one of the eight contestants. To her suprise, she was chosen! It was held at the "BET Blackhall" in Washington D.C. and sponsored by; BET,Def Jam, Avirex, Mecca,Yamaha, and of course, Coca Cola.

She went to New Orleans and auditioned for "American Idol" in 2004.

In the winter of 2004, the production of her first album "Only Believe" began.

In the summer of 2005 her first single was released("Your Praise").

Now, Shyrita is taking the world by storm with her first album entiltled, "Only Believe." Which was released in February 2006.
