Currently called The West Side Winders (www.cdbaby.com/westsidewinders), the band formerly known as The Sidewinders began in early spring of 2001. Chicago based musician Dan Peters took influences ranging from Elvis & Johnny Cash to Brian Setzer & Stevie Ray Vaughan and worked towards putting together a group that would be both challenging and entertaining.
After working through several stylistic and personnel changes, the band settled into the perfect niche as a "surfabilly" power trio.
Their music mixes rockabilly, surf, jump-blues, honky-tonk, jazz and western swing into a high-octane blend that rocks a little harder than your typical roots oriented group.
The three members are all journeyman musicians who have recorded; performed and toured the world with many Chicago based acts.

Thought That Guitar Would Catch Fire in His Hands
author: SharkSteve
First heard Sidewinders on Roots Rock Radio at www.rrradio.com. Went to CD Baby, got the CD in 48 hours, listened, and thought to myself...Man, that guitar might just catch fire in his hands. Rockin' hard surfabilly hot guitar licks and howling vocals delivered by a power trio that makes you ask yourself where can I hear more of this? Recording quality is very very good for an independently produced CD. I recommend this CD to anybody that needs some hard driving hot rock keep your feet going sounds.

Sidewinders rock Chicago Bluesfest 2004
author: Andrea in Silver Spring MD
Guitar based blues with a rockabilly twang, these guys rocked the Bluesfest for what I hear is not the first time. They sound great live and great on this CD. If you like danceable, guitar-based blues-infused music (and who wouldn't) give these guys a try. I just wish they played Washington, DC so I could see them again soon! Guys, consider this an invitation! And CDBaby gave me much better service than I got from my order from Bad Buy (aka Best Buy), a store who is still whining about sending me a replacement order a month after they charged my credit card!
