The oud and harmonica are reunited at last. Fenci’s Blues, Shtreiml’s third album, features the incomparable oud playing and beautiful tenor vocals of Ismail Fencioglu along with the uniquely creative harmonica playing of Jason Rosenblatt. With echoes of Istanbul throughout, Shtreiml and Ismail shift from virtuosic original compositions to haunting folksongs and from traditional Turkish instrumentals to adaptations of Eastern-European Jewish folk melodies. This album is a must for any lover of new Middle-Eastern and/or Jewish music.
Featured musicians include Thierry Arsenault (drums, percussion), Ismail Fencioglu (oud, vocals), Rachel Lemisch (trombone), Jason Rosenblatt (harmonica, piano) and Adam Stotland (bass).

Brilliant and original harmonica and a great band.
author: Richard Hunter
If you like acoustic music, bands that breathe together, and brilliant ensemble and solo playing, you'll love this record. It won't hurt if you also like Middle Eastern melodies and rhythms, and it won't hurt at all if you like to hear the harmonica played with fabulous flair and originality -- but anyone who digs a great acoustic band should recognize on first hearing that this is the real deal.
