Smart and sophisticated, timely and cool.....a few words that describe "Invitation", the newly released CD by smooth jazz vocalist, Signe Hensel.

Signe is one of the premier jazz personalities to emerge from the Minneapolis scene. Signe's courtship with jazz began in a vocal group, singing tight harmonies. From there she performed with the Rod Pierson Big Band, which led her to the stage of the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. Signe can be seen in jazz clubs around the Twin Cities, at special events, telethons, benefits and festivals throughout the Midwest. In the studio, Signe has recorded jingles, songwriter's demos, back-ups and selected cuts from other artist albums.

Signe's debut CD, "Invitation", shimmers magically with co-producer Adi Yeshaya's stunning arrangements played with skillful emotion by many of the Twin Cities' treasured musicians. It features a thoughtfully selected collection of classics enduring and beloved today, along with gems that only the jazz aficionado will immediately recognize -- but which will fast become new favorites. This collection of tunes spans coolness past to present and seduces the listener to float between the enormity and excitement of the Big Band Era as well as the richness and intimacy of a 3am jazz club.
